The Central Oregon Shrine Club sponsors and participates in a number of events throughout the year. The main events are described below. Keep an eye on this page and our calendar for additional details and events as they become available.

Farmers Appreciation Dinner | February 7, 2017

Join us as we honor the farmers and growers in our region that give so much in the way of food for the Shriners Hospital for Children-Portland, during our annual Food Drive in October. This year we will be meeting at Wild Winds Station in Madras for a social dinner. These growers provide a sizable amount of food that the Hospital uses year-long.

Flamingle Party – Al Kader Temple | March 4, 2017

Throughout the year, Al Kader Temple hosts Social Evenings, where all Shriners can come together for a night of fun and fellowship. The first Social of the year will be March 4th with doors opening at 5:30pm.  Now you are wondering what a Flamingle is, when you have a party with Flamingos + Mingle = “Flamingle!” We are setting the mood for our Imperial Session in July 2017 in Daytona Beach. Dress will be beach, luau or resortwear. Dinner will be a tropical buffet with meats, salads, fruit and desert. Call Al Kader Temple for your reservation.

Oregon East West Football Game | August 5, 2017

Once a year, Oregon’s best and brightest Senior football players from the 1A to 4A high schools meet in Baker City to participate in an all-star football game that is SO much more than a game. These healthy players are playing for the children who are patients of Shriners Hospital for Children.

The players learn why they play in this important game, when they visit Portland Shriners Hospital for Children and meet the children for whom they are playing.  This meeting with the children forms bonds between the players and the patients.  The players learn how important their contribution is to these children through interaction and play, leaving the players with a new understanding of their mission.  The players participate with a common goal and, although they play on two different teams, they are united in their purpose and are only opponents on the field.

All net proceeds go to the Shriners Hospital for Children-Portland.

Annual Food Caravan | October 14, 2017

This event began several years ago where the Shriners collect and give food to help the Hospital provide good nourishing meals. Each year the Club donates over $10,000 worth of food, from the support of our Club members and the local farmers in the Culver/Kimberly areas. Clubs from Central Oregon and Eastern Oregon all meet the at the Shrine Temple in Wilsonville with their loads and they are then delivered to the Shriners Hospital for Children-Portland. If you would like to donate food, please contact 541-205-4484.

Donkey Basketball Game | November, 2017
Deschutes County Sheriffs Office vs Crook County Sheriffs Office

Proceeds benefit the Central Oregon Shrine Club.

Check back next year for the exact date and time. Come out and enjoy the fun. The 2016 game was a great success! A great time for the entire family and laughs are guaranteed! 100% of ticket receipts sold at the door go to our club.

Bend Christmas Parade | December, 2017

Join us Saturday, December 2nd at noon for the 2017 Bend Christmas Parade!

Shriners are well known for their small go-carts and the familiar hats they wear, called a Fez.. COSC has a company of go-carts that we ride in various parades throughout Central Oregon, including Madras, Prineville and La Pine. The children especially enjoy watching the carts and their maneuvers. This year, for Christmas, we’ll have a float in the Bend Christmas Parade.
